Department of Pharmacology

        The Department of Pharmacology, founded in 1939, has been passed down through generations of scholars, including Tang Sui, Luo Guang, and Lü Yifang, fostering a rigorous, pragmatic, diligent, and innovative academic tradition. The department currently boasts 14 teaching and research staff, including 8 professors and 6 associate professors, creating a well-balanced faculty structure.

        The department offers pharmacology courses across multiple tracks, including the five-year clinical medicine program, the 5+3 integrated program, public health, nursing, and international students. The department also offers courses in scientific thinking training, independent design experiments, and predictive learning (PBL). The department was the chief editor of the pharmacology textbook for the National 11th Five-Year Plan and has contributed to the editing of over 30 textbooks. The department is actively promoting smart teaching reforms.

      In research, the department focuses on distinctive areas such as chronic diseases of the elderly, nano-tumor pharmacology, organ fibrosis, neuropsychopharmacology, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and anti-inflammatory immunopharmacology. In recent years, he has published numerous high-quality papers in journals such as Science Advances and Theranostics, undertaken over 50 national and provincial projects, received 15 million yuan in research funding, and won two second-class awards in the Jilin Province Natural Science Awards. The department has established four provincial-level research platforms, including the Jilin Province New Drug Preclinical Pharmacology Evaluation Science and Technology Innovation Center, providing strong support for scientific research. Professor Chen Li himself was named one of the top 2% of scientists worldwide in 2020.

       Since the department was approved for a master's degree program in 1996 and a doctoral program in 2003, it has trained over 300 graduate students. Currently, it has eight doctoral supervisors and five masters supervisors. Remarkable achievements have been made in recent years, with four doctoral students receiving awards for Outstanding Doctoral Dissertations in Jilin Province and one selected as a National Outstanding Young Talent.

       The Department of Pharmacology will continue to deepen reforms in teaching and research, continuously elevate the discipline, and strive to achieve greater breakthroughs in pharmacology both domestically and internationally.
