To further improve the quality of medical education for international students, actively advance international student teaching, optimize the quality assurance system for international education in China, and promote the healthy and stable development of international student education, the College of Basic Medical Sciences organized a Teaching Work Meeting for International Undergraduate Students Majoring in Clinical Medicine on the afternoon of June 13. Xu Qinghui, Deputy Director of the Medical Education Office of Norman Bethune Health Center of Jilin University; relevant leaders, experts, and teaching secretaries from the First Norman Bethune Hospital, Second Norman Bethune Hospital, and Third Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University; Wang Xiaorong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Basic Medical Sciences; and all staff of the International Student Office of the College of Basic Medical Sciences. The meeting was presided over by He Kan, Assistant Dean of the College of Basic Medical Sciences.
At the meeting, Secretary Wang Xiaorong first gave a brief overview of the college’s work in teaching management, student management, and enrollment since it took over the training of the MBBS program. Subsequently, attending leaders and experts—including Gao Yufei, Vice Dean of Third Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University; Professor Wu Hui from First Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University; Piao Meihua, Deputy Director of the Teaching Department of First Hospital; Bao Hongyan, Director of the Teaching Department of Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University; and Chen Peng, Director of the Clinical Professional English Teaching and Research Section—conducted discussions on two key tasks: the selection of clinical teaching teams for international students receiving English-medium instruction in Clinical Medicine, and the revision of the 2024 version of the MBBS training program. Finally, from the perspective of teaching supervision, Xu Qinghui (Deputy Director of the Medical Education Office of Norman Bethune Health Center) and Professor Wu Hui (a supervisor for international students at Norman Bethune Health Center of Jilin University) put forward two suggestions for MBBS teaching work: first, to motivate lecturers to enhance classroom appeal at the source; second, to manage students through institutional measures by establishing and improving attendance systems, examination systems, and other related regulations.
Taking this meeting as an opportunity, the college will continue to enhance and optimize MBBS talent training, strengthen the development of the MBBS teaching team, establish and refine institutional norms, and continuously improve the quality of MBBS education and teaching. It strives to cultivate more international undergraduate students majoring in Clinical Medicine for the university.
