On the afternoon of June 20, 2024, the 2024 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferral Ceremony of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, Jilin University, was grandly held in the college’s academic lecture hall. Present at the ceremony were college leaders including Dean of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, Wang Fang, Secretary of the Party Committee, Wang Xiaorong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, directors of various departments, and representatives of teachers and students attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Li Dongyang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.

        The ceremony kicked off with the inspiring national anthem. Professor Xin Ying, Vice Dean, read out the list of international student graduates.

        Professor Li Hongyan, Vice Dean, announced the list of graduate students.

        Professor Wang Xiaorong, Secretary of the Party Committee, read out the list of outstanding graduates as well as the list of excellent doctoral and master’s theses.

        College leaders presented certificates to the award-winning students.

        Wang Fang, Dean of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, extended the warmest congratulations to the graduates who had successfully completed their studies at various stages, were about to bid farewell to their alma mater, and move toward a new height in life. He noted that all present had witnessed the college’s achievements in the innovative development of medical education and the attainment of several milestone “firsts”. He thanked the graduates for spending their beautiful years in the college and dedicating their brilliant youth to scientific research, and earnestly hoped that they would always be “members of the College of Basic Medical Sciences” who uphold a rigorous scientific attitude and maintain an innovative spirit. With what they had learned at the college, he encouraged them to step out of the campus, go to all parts of the motherland, and make outstanding contributions to the great cause of people’s health.

        Hui Wenting, representative of graduate student graduates, delivered a speech. She thanked the College of Basic Medical Sciences for its careful cultivation and the teachers for their hard work. She stated that on her new life journey, she would continue to uphold Bethune’s spirit of “full enthusiasm and pursuit of excellence”, carry forward the diligence, steadiness, rationality and modesty endowed by the college, move forward step by step, and contribute her “individual youth” to the "great cause of national rejuvenation" while remaining true to her original aspiration and forging ahead courageously.

        Lin Mingye, representative of international student graduates, spoke on behalf of the 2024 MBBS graduates. He expressed high respect and sincere gratitude to the college and teachers for their diligent cultivation. He said he was delighted to have met like-minded friends from different countries here, and that in the days ahead, all graduates would always remember the teachings of the college, leaders and teachers, fly higher with their dreams, and actively devote themselves to serving society.

        Teacher representative Liu Jiamei delivered a speech. First, she expressed her deep blessings to the graduates. As everyone was about to step into a brand - new life stage, she put forward three sentences for everyone to encourage each other. The first is “Do things steadily and be an honest person.” The second is “A blessing in disguise, who knows?” The third is to remember the College motto: “Diligent in Learning, Clear in Reason, Honest in Conduct, Precise in Pursuit” She hoped that everyone would stick to their original aspirations and pursue excellence. She also wished that the graduates could spread their wings and create their own brilliant lives. Finally, she reminded everyone to always remember that no matter where they went, the Basic Medical College of Jilin University would always be their home.

        Finally, Dean Wang Fang successively conferred degrees and turned the tassels for the 2024 graduates.

        Amidst the heartfelt and resounding university anthem sung by all teachers and students present, the 2024 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferral Ceremony of the College of Basic Medical Sciences came to a close. With its profound academic heritage and rigorous academic approach, the College of Basic Medical Sciences of Jilin University has nurtured batches of outstanding talents. Carrying the college’s teachings and expectations, these graduates will uphold the college motto of “Diligent in Learning, Clear in Reason, Honest in Conduct, Precise in Pursuit”, continue to inherit and promote Bethune’s spirit, step into a broader world, and write their own remarkable life stories.
