As the pages of books turn and youth fades, by the end of June, the evening breeze ushers in the midsummer. Amidst the farewells, young birds are finally ready to spread their wings and leave the nest, flying toward the boundless wilderness and sky. To send off the 2024 graduates on their journey ahead, our college grandly held the “Chasing Dreams in Youth, Cherishing Memories of Basic Medicine” 2024 Graduation Gala on the evening of June 20. Invited guests in attendance included Zhao Yue, Director of the Graduate Work Department of Jilin University; Jia Xiaohui, Deputy Director of the Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance and Service Center of Jilin University; Cui Xianhua and Liu Yang, Vice Deans of the International Education College; and Xu Qinghui, Deputy Director of the Medical Education Office of Bethune Medical Department. Also present were Wang Fang, Dean of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, Wang Xiaorong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Li Dongyang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Li Hongyan, Vice Dean, Xin Ying, Vice Dean, Sun Wei, Vice Dean, Chen Long, Vice Dean, directors of various departments, and student representatives, all of whom attended the party together.

The graduation gala kicked off gently with the warm-up MV The Wind Rises, co-recorded by four teachers—Li Dongyang, Sun Jiayu, He Kan, Yan Tianhao—and students of the College of Basic Medical Sciences.
Youth never stops moving forward, and the wings of dreams are ready to soar. The opening dance Magnetic ignited the stage of the graduation gala. With dynamic movements, the dancers showcased the vitality and passion of youth; every spin and jump was filled with longing and expectation for the future.

Music transcends borders, and songs convey sincere emotions. International students performed the song ROKANUMESA, expressing their inner feelings through music, allowing us to jointly experience this cross-border friendship.

Graduates presented the song Madam Shexiang, pushing the on-site atmosphere to a climax. The melody took us through time to an era of heroes, letting us feel the lofty aspirations of outstanding women and the profound weight of history.

Amidst the audience’s enthusiasm, the much-anticipated lucky draw session began. Prizes were handed out one by one, passing on good fortune and making the atmosphere even more lively.

Those who had already graduated were already shining in their respective fields with the knowledge and skills they had learned. Tonight, members of the “Bethune Band” returned to this familiar and dear place with deep affection for the college, performing Days on Xinjiang Street to express their best wishes to the graduating juniors and seniors.

The Indian dance Indian Couple Dance was full of exotic charm and passion. As the music played, the mysterious and enchanting melody seemed to transcend time, leading us into that ancient and mystical country.

On life’s journey, we may all have experienced confusion and doubts, but it is these experiences that have shaped who we are today. Teachers Li Dongyang, He Kan, and Yan Tianhao sang Stupid Kid, taking us back to our younger days, making us feel the pure dreams and passion, and seeing the beauty and hope in life.

Then came the second lucky draw session—who would be the next lucky ones to win the prizes!

After the lucky draw, the stage was once again ignited with passion through dance. The International Student Dance Troupe performed Beat Busters. May we, in the days ahead, move forward courageously like this dance and chase our dreams.

The song Our Love affectionately conveyed mutual emotions, gently illuminating our hearts. It celebrated the beauty of our youth, recalled those unforgettable years, and looked forward to a promising future.

Poetry is the comfort of the soul and the sustenance of emotions. The poem recitation Grateful in Heart, Thankful in Action led everyone to recall bits and pieces of life in the college—the kind and approachable teachers, friends from all over the country—all witnesses to our shared experiences and marks of our youth.

During the intermission, a heartwarming VCR was played, reviewing the smiles of the graduates and including messages from juniors and seniors of various departments for the graduates. In the vast journey of life, may we all have sails to guide us and shores to anchor at.

“If the moon hasn’t come yet, street lamps can still light up the windowsill...” As the ancient poem goes, “Deer call softly, feeding on the wild apples; when I have distinguished guests, I play the zither and blow the sheng.” Music is the echo of the soul, and musical notes are the extension of thoughts. On this beautiful occasion, let us take songs as companions and wish for a bright tomorrow!

“When I first heard the song, I didn’t understand its meaning; now I listen again, and I am the one in the song.” The beautiful first encounter feels like yesterday, yet now we are in a hurry to part. Through wind and rain, our meeting has been worth it. Dean Wang Fang and Teacher He Kan performed the song Can’t Say Goodbye—we won’t say goodbye, for we will meet again eventually.

Summer has arrived in the southern lands, and the phoenix flowers are blooming again. Summer intensifies the warm atmosphere, while the blooming phoenix flowers are tinged with the sadness of farewell. Every journey unfolds different sceneries, and every scenery lets us meet friends we cherish. At this crossroads where phoenix flowers bloom, we bid farewell and sing of hope.

Tonight, starlight and dreams shine together, and applause and songs rise one after another. We gather here to present an unforgettable graduation gala to the outstanding graduates of the college who are about to set sail. However, farewell is not the end, but the beginning of a new chapter.
The successful holding of this gala has left beautiful memories for the 2024 graduates of our college. We look forward to seeing the students of the College of Basic Medical Sciences shine in their respective fields, achieve excellence, and write their own brilliant stories. May all of you, after going through thousands of trials, bring back frequent good news; when we meet again, may the journey be long and the future be as vast as the sea.
