On April 1st, the 24th Jilin University Men’s Student Football Championship kicked off. The Student Football Team of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, composed of undergraduate students majoring in Biomedical Science and MBBS international students from our college, participated in the championship for the first time in its history and secured a victory in its opening group match.

       At the start of the game, the players displayed high morale and a united spirit, with a tight rhythm in offense-defense transitions and tacit coordination in passing. Facing strong opponents in the first match, they showed no fear and quickly got into the game rhythm. Relying on sharp insight and excellent individual skills, the players broke through the opponent's defense and created multiple threatening shooting opportunities. Near the midpoint of the first half, SHUBHAM, a 2019-batch international student from India, took a corner kick and headed the ball to score, helping our college take a 1-0 lead. In the second half, after the two teams switched sides, SHUBHAM once again made a breakthrough along the left wing. After shaking off several defensive players, he calmly took a shot; the ball flew past the opponent goalkeeper's fingers and into the net, making SHUBHAM score twice in a row. Near the end of the game, SHIBILY, a 2018-batch international student, received an assist from a teammate in the midfield and scored another goal with a powerful volley, which once again pierced the opponent's goal. The final score was fixed at 3-0.

       The brilliant performance in the first game demonstrated the strength and potential of the Student Football Team of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, as well as the players’ perseverance and spirit of courage to fight. The students will continue to remain humble, train hard, and strive for better results in the subsequent games. Representing the college in the Jilin University Men’s Student Football Championship for the first time, the Student Football Team of the College of Basic Medical Sciences has added a bright touch to the development of the college’s sports cause.
