With phoenix flowers in full bloom and farewell songs lingering in the air, the 2025 Graduation Ceremony of the College of Basic Medical Sciences of Jilin University was grandly held in the college's academic lecture hall on the afternoon of June 21, 2025. Wang Fang, Dean of the College of Basic Medical Sciences; Wang Xiaorong, Secretary of the Party Committee; Sun Wei, He Kan, Li Dong, Yang Ming, and Cao Haibo, Vice Deans of the college; directors of various departments; as well as teacher and student representatives attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Li Dongyang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.

        The graduation ceremony kicked off with the solemn playing of the National Anthem. Vice Dean He Kan read out the list of international graduates.

        Vice Dean Sun Wei read out the list of postgraduate graduates.

        Vice Dean Yang Ming read out the list of outstanding international graduates and outstanding postgraduate graduates.

        Leaders of the college presented certificates to the outstanding graduates.

        Wang Fang, Dean of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, delivered a speech. He extended the warmest congratulations to the 79 postgraduates (including masters and doctors) in Basic Medical Sciences and 50 international students in Clinical Medicine who had successfully completed their studies at various stages, were about to bid farewell to their alma mater, and embark on a journey to the wider world. In recent years, the College of Basic Medical Sciences has achieved a series of proud accomplishments in the innovative development of medical education at Jilin University. For example, the establishment of the Ginseng College of Jilin University, the publication of high-level papers, and the launch of Jilin University's first pre-medical program that allows early identification and enrollment of high-quality students. All these achievements are inseparable from the joint efforts of everyone. Looking ahead, all graduates will face more challenges and opportunities. With the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) as a new productive force, Dean Wang hoped that the graduates would keep in mind the motto of “Study Diligently, Seek Truth, Be Honest and Meticulous”. He encouraged them to seize opportunities in medical research, disease diagnosis and treatment, leverage the transformations brought by the AI era to write their own chapters in the field of AI, and better serve human health and well-being. He called on everyone to work together for the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and strive to realize the health and unity of people around the world.

        Rohan, representative of international student graduates, delivered a speech. He said, The time I spent at the College of Basic Medical Sciences has endowed me with the courage to face unknown challenges and enhanced my adaptability. This improvement in ability will become an important driving force for my future life and study. I would like to thank the college and teachers for their hard work in nurturing us; we will always remember their kindness no matter where we are in the world. Here, we have learned to persist and felt the power of self-belief. The path of medicine is long and arduous, but we will move forward with all our strength.

        Zheng Haoyu, representative of postgraduate graduates delivered a speech. He stated, Basic Medicine is the forefront fortress for safeguarding human health. I would like to thank the college for instilling in us a deep-seated medical sentiment — respect for life, pursuit of medical truth, and responsibility for protecting health. As graduates, we will carry the character and strength forged here, along with our curiosity for science, reverence for life, and sense of responsibility, and bravely march towards our respective bright futures.

        Teacher Xu Caina, representative of the faculty, delivered a speech. She first extended her sincere blessings to the graduates, congratulating them on successfully navigating the journey of learning and reaching the shore of their dreams. She emphasized that graduation was not the end of learning, but a sign that the graduates would officially embark on the “practical mode” and “contribution mode”of life. Equipped with the solid foundation endowed by “Basic Medicine”, they would step confidently into the “proving phase” of their lives. Looking forward, whether they continue to explore the unknown in the depths of scientific research, guard lives on the clinical frontline, or display their talents in broader fields, Teacher Xu expressed her expectation that the graduates would transform what they had learned and experienced into practical strength to serve the country and promote social progress, and prove their value and sense of responsibility through actions.

        Finally, Dean Wang Fang conferred degrees and moved the tassels for each 2025 graduate one by one.

        With all teachers and students singing the university anthem sincerely and loudly, the 2025 Graduation Ceremony and Commencement of the College of Basic Medical Sciences came to an end. Relying on its solid disciplinary accumulation and a pragmatic academic style, the College of Basic Medical Sciences of Jilin University has cultivated generations of outstanding talents. These graduates will carry the college’s cultivation and expectations, adhere to the college motto of “Diligent in Learning, Understand Principles, Upright in Character, Precise in Pursuit”, continue to inherit and promote the Bethune Spirit, move towards a broader stage, and write their own brilliant chapters.
