On May 28, Jilin University held a mobilization meeting for the quality accreditation of undergraduate education in Clinical Medicine for international students (taught in English, referred as MBBS). Zhang Ran, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jilin University, attended the meeting and delivered a mobilization speech. The meeting was hosted by Jiang Lei, Dean of the College of International Education. Relevant units including the Graduate College, Undergraduate College, Research and Development Institute, Human Resources Department, Talent Work Office, College of International Education, Teacher Teaching Development Center, Norman Bethune Health Science Center, Logistics Service Group (International Exchange Service Center), College of Basic Medical Sciences, the First Hospital, the Second Hospital, and China-Japan Union Hospital participated in the meeting.
First of all, Vice President Zhang Ran delivered a mobilization speech. She pointed out that higher education for international students in China is an important part of the opening-up of education. For a long time, the university has attached great importance to education for international students, and continuously improved the systems and mechanisms for the enrollment, cultivation, management and service of international students. Relevant functional departments and training units should unite and cooperate, and carefully cultivate talents. Taking this quality accreditation as an opportunity, they should further promote the high-quality development of international student programs in the university, such as international joint education and expansion of enrollment scale.
Subsequently, Wang Fang, Dean of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, introduced the development of the MBBS program from the aspects of enrollment, cultivation and management. At the same time, benchmarking against the quality accreditation index system, he put forward the problems and difficulties faced in the preparation for this quality accreditation, and hoped that relevant departments would provide support and help. He Kan, Vice Dean of the College of Basic Medical Sciences, interpreted the quality accreditation index system for undergraduate education in Clinical Medicine for international students (taught in English) in detail item by item. The heads of relevant functional departments of the university participated in in-depth discussions and exchanges on the index system.
Finally, Jiang Lei, Dean of the College of International Education, made a concluding speech. He introduced the significance and impact of the quality accreditation for undergraduate education in Clinical Medicine for international students (taught in English), and emphasized that quality accreditation is an assessment and certification of whether the education and management level of international student programs in various universities meets the recognized quality standards. He urged all parties to cooperate with and support each other, make full preparations, promote reform, construction and quality improvement through accreditation, and ensure the smooth completion of the quality accreditation work.
The quality accreditation of undergraduate education in Clinical Medicine for international students (taught in English) is a quality accreditation work for international students in China entrusted by the Ministry of Education to the China Education Association for International Exchange. It aims to assist the Ministry of Education in strengthening the management of MBBS programs. Our university submitted the accreditation application in 2024. Through this mobilization meeting, the university will focus on the index system to further improve and implement the division of tasks, carefully prepare various materials, and make every effort to do a good job in the quality accreditation work.
