To fully support the high-quality delivery of the Medical History Taking course for international MBBS students in the new semester, enhance teachers’ teaching proficiency, and improve in-class teaching effectiveness, the Medical History Taking Teaching and Research Section held the 2025 Spring Collective Lesson Preparation Meeting and New Teacher Trial Teaching Session in the Smart Center Classroom of Yatai hospital district on February 25. Vice President Wang Min of the Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University, Vice Dean He Kan of the College of Basic Medical Sciences of Jilin University , Director Liu Xin of the International Student Office of College of Basic Medical Sciences of Jilin University, Director Bao Hongyan and Deputy Director Huang Sa of the Teaching Department of the Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University, Director Wang Ke of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and Director Cai Hanqing of the Endocrinology Department of Ziqiang Campus attended the event. More than 40 relevant teachers from the Medical History Taking Teaching and Research Sections of the Second, First, and Third Norman Bethune Hospitals of Jilin University attended the meeting. Through a combination of online and offline methods. In his speech, Vice Dean He Kan of Jilin University College of Basic Medical Sciences emphasized that MBBS teaching is of great importance for cultivating medical talents with an international perspective. The Medical History Taking course is a basic skill for medical students to establish good communication with patients and obtain accurate medical condition information, which is crucial for training qualified international clinical doctors in the future. He hoped that teachers would pay special attention to the impact of cultural differences on teaching, continuously optimize teaching content and methods, and enhance the professional literacy of international students.

Chen Peng, the chief person in charge of the course, focused on the systematic overall arrangement of the 2025 spring teaching tasks. She emphasized that in the teaching process, teachers should always make full use of information technology, adopt diversified teaching methods and means, and strive to impart the knowledge of medical history taking to students in a vivid and intuitive manner.

Three teachers—He Yuqian from the Refractive Surgery Center, Wang Ling and Wu Yishi from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology—conducted trial teaching in turn. All teachers made careful preparations, demonstrated natural and graceful teaching demeanors, fluent professional English expressions, and applied diversified teaching methods, fully showing their solid professional foundation and enthusiasm for international student teaching. The experts fully affirmed the teachers’ trial teaching and provided one-on-one guidance to each teacher in terms of teaching design, application of teaching methods, in-class interaction skills, and teaching plan writing.

Teacher Li Yangxue, the teaching secretary, arranged the teaching work and gave a detailed explanation on the teaching tasks, course schedule, assessment methods, and preparation of teaching materials for this semester, laying a solid foundation for the smooth development of teaching work in the new semester. The participating teachers had a lively discussion on teaching skills and coping with cultural differences, shared teaching experiences, and all expressed that they had benefited a lot.

This teaching meeting provided a platform for teachers to communicate and learn, promoted cooperation and growth among teachers, and clarified the teaching direction and key points for the new semester.
